$NOT Emerges From His Shell On New Album ‘Viceroy’

$NOT‘s new album Viceroy, released via 300 Entertainment, delves deep into his psyche, showcasing his darkest thoughts and emotional depth. The South Florida artist explains that the album’s title, Viceroy, symbolizes transformation and resilience, mirroring his personal and professional journey. He connects the symbolism of the viceroy butterfly to his own struggles and growth within the music industry.

Sonically, Viceroy revisits the moody abrasiveness of $NOT’s earlier work but with a newfound emotional maturity. Across 17 tracks, $NOT navigates through the complexities of love, heartbreak, and the impact of fame. In “WHAT YOU DONE,” he reflects on the pain of a broken relationship, expressing his deep longing and confusion with the lyrics: “What you done to me, I know I’m dreaming / 365 days b*tch I miss you / 365 days can’t live without you.” The album’s focus track, “LONELY MF,” showcases his emotional turmoil, where he pleads to shut off his emotions, blaming himself for the breakup and vowing never to love again. This track is layered with distorted background vocals and a breezy guitar melody.

“HELP REFUSER” finds $NOT at his most vulnerable, confronting his inner demons with raw honesty. The stripped-down production highlights his introspective lyrics: “I’m used and abused, it’s not nothing new / I’m fighting my demons and I think I will lose / Nothing to prove, I know I’m a loser, a drug abuser, a help refuser.” Through Viceroy, $NOT offers a candid exploration of his emotional landscape, marking a significant evolution in his artistry.
